Tatseena's Belly Dance Fantasy Festival 2008 - Sunday, August 3, 2008

Once again, Indigenous was invited back to perform at Tatseena's 2-day Fantasy Festival at San Leandro Marina Community Center, 15301 Wicks Blvd., San Leandro CA 94579.  Indigenous performed its new Mytho-Poetic line-up featuring an Afro-Brazilian-Funk belly dance fusion.  Tatseena's festival was superbly organized, smoothly run and well attended by the belly dance community.  Tatseena is to be commended for making this performance venue such a joy to attend and perform in.  Thanks, Tatseena!  An a very special thanks to Carl Sermon of  ReelSoundandLight for the following fantastic photos.

Indigenous opened with a lively Kashlimar.....

...Followed by a folkloric Basket Dance featuring dance moves celebrating the wheat harvest.....

Showing the beauty of the empty hand-woven baskets and...             Carrying them off to the fields for harvest...

Cutting the wheat and.....               Picking up the grain heads....

Chaffing the wheat and.....                  Grinding it into flour.....

Bringing home the flour.....                Kneading the dough and.....              Shaping the bread.
The third dance was a little friendly drum competition, Afro-belly style...

Among friends, everyone's a winner!

Next, a cheeky little hip-hop number: Some Like It Hot!.....

...And right into a Middle-East Mix of Stevie Wonder's "Superstition"...

"Don't believe in things you don't understand!" -Stevie Wonder lyrics

....And the finale, a high energy Afro-Brazilian Samba!

Viva Carnival!

SEE YOU NEXT YEAR, TATSEENA!
