Santa Clara Art & Wine Festival 2010

September 18, 2010
Santa Clara, California

For the fourth year in a row, Indigenous performed at the fantastic Santa Clara Art & Wine Festival set inside picturesque Central Park on the popular Meadow Stage just north of the lagoon.  Photos by David Martin.
Indigenous perform its Mytho-poetic style of belly dance reprising favorite pieces from past ethnic performances in a Crossover Set.  Past dance sets included AmerIndian, AfroBrazilian, Gothic and Traditional styles of dance.  Each dancer performed a solo piece in the specific style of their costume and then performed a "crossover" fusion piece with another dancer.

Bahira opened the set with "Thunderbird Sword" from the AmerIndian Set of dances and shared a duet with Fara'Asha in "Raven Bones."

Fara'Asha perfomed a solo to "I Cash Radii" in the Gothic Tribal style and a duet with Aniq to Stevie Wonder's "Superstition"

Aniq performed a Samba representing the AfroBrazilian style and Shiva joined her for an Afro-Arabic drum duet.

Shiva finished out the solos with a graceful and playful traditional Egyptian belly dance routine....

....and the whole Troupe joined in for the finale: "Some Like It Hot" - a modern American Hip Hop piece.
